
The Cove & McIntyre Hope and Healing Scholarship
At The Cove, we aim to offer grieving children and teens hope and healing through our free programs. We work to ensure grieving families feel supported and have the opportunity to move through life with hope. We are able to award one tuition scholarship per year in the amount of $5,000.
Thank you to all our 2024 high school graduates who applied for The Cove & McIntyre Hope and Healing Scholarship. Our 2025 scholarship application is now open. Read on for eligibility requirements and information on how to apply. Scholarship applications are due April 1, 2025.
Scholarship Eligibility Requirements

High school senior, class of 2025 graduate

Has experienced the death of a parent, guardian or sibling

Accepted into any higher education program such as, but not limited to a 2 or 4 year accredited college or university, culinary school, or trade school, located in the United States, including DC and Puerto Rico

Must be a permanent resident of the state of CT

Has not already completed or attended any prior or current higher education programs
Instructions for Completing the Scholarship Application
Below were the scholarship application instructions. If you applied and think you missed one of these steps, please reach out to Allison at allison@covect.org.

Copy of your most recent transcript of grades from current or last school attended. An official transcript from the school is required by the April 1, 2025 application deadline.

Two original letters of recommendation from individuals who are not related to you, the applicant.

Please provide Academic/Career Goals, not to exceed 2400 characters.

Please answer the essay question, not to exceed 2600 characters, How has the death of your loved one impacted you and how you have overcome adversity?

Provide proof of citizenship.

Provide copy of driver’s license or other State-Issued ID (copies of both front and back).

Provide a letter of acceptance into your chosen program.
